Echoing my thoughts and interests

One of my favorite TV shows from last season was Lost. A group of people are stranded on a tropical island after their plane crashes 1,000 miles off course. Season 1 teased viewers with the possibility that these people are not alone on the island and that there is something extraordinarily wrong with the island.

One of the hints given about the hatch is

What’s in the Hatch? Hint: In a way, it’s something you’ve never seen before. But in a way, it’s something you see every day and are probably seeing right now. Okay, another hint: It begins and ends with the same letter.

Some say it’s a window or an eye. A window makes sense as the hint was given online and to be online you would need to be looking through a window (monitor). An eye also makes sense as Locke told Jack that he had looked into the eye of the island, and it was beautiful.

Season 1 releases on DVD Sep 06, 2005. Season 2 begins Wednesday, September 21st at 8:00 PM MDT, and I heard a rumor that one of the main cast members will either not be returning or be killed early in the season due to wage disputes. We’ll see.

  1. David H. Sundwall Said,

I LOVE this show! It hooked me halfway through the season and I can’t wait for the DVDs. I saw those rumors on a forum site too. I have no idea what to expect. Supposedly, those who were disapointed that season one was just questions asked with few answers will be satisfied by the first three episodes. I just hope Locke is safe. He drives the whole faith vs. science, destiny vs. random chance meme.

  2. John Said,

Awesome, we can talk Lost all season. Yeah, the Locke character is my favorite. He’s the most mysterious. It’s almost as if the Island is using him for its purposes and I think he knows a lot more than he is letting on.

I can’t wait for the season opener.

  3. David H. Sundwall Said,

“He’s the most mysterious. It’s almost as if the Island is using him for its purposes and I think he knows a lot more than he is letting on”

Exactly. Plus, he’s apparently the only one who has seen the “monster” face to face and lived. And he’s never told anyone, even Boone.

It should be a fun season. I feel like such a geek. It’s been a long time I have followed a show so seriously.

  4. Rochelle Morton Said,

Hi, I’m a fellow LOST devotee!
What an awesome show. How trippy was the season finale tho? What with glimpses of the island’s “defence mechanism” and “the others” taking the boy, Walt, off the raft… it should be an interesting 2nd season, that’s for sure.
I’m in agreement with John and David that Locke deffinately knows more than he’s letting on.

All of the characters seem to have unfinished business, issues to address in their lives, and I’m wondering if the reason Walt was taken away was because he has resolved his issues with his dad. (?)
And maybe “the others” wanted to take Claires baby because it was innocent…it had no issues to address. (?) But then the french woman comes into that somewhere…Hmmmm….it’s so fun speculating!

  5. John Said,

    Rochelle,

Walt being forcibly taken from the raft was a complete and shocking surprise to me. I read somewhere that the group on the raft will get back to the island, but another part of the island. It will be awhile before they get reunited.

My two favorite TV shows, Lost and Alias were both created by JJ Abrams. He has a great imagination with the ability to translate it to incredibly suspenseful shows.

  6. Rochelle Morton Said,

    John,

Oh, I was hoping that we’d get to see more of the island! I feel that there is deffinately more to discover on the island. It seems to be rather large in size and has the potential to have other inhabitants that are yet to be revealed. With the presence of “the hatch” it would seem that there is a well established settlement of people… or once was…

I also think it would be interesting if in the next series we saw any efforts to find the plane by the outside world. But it depends where the show is heading, it might not fit in with the plot.

Yeah, Alias is pretty good too. (Though I haven’t had the chance to watch much of the latest season) I think its the suspense and action aswell as identifiable characters that make it so good. Do you know if JJ Abrams has made anything else?

  7. John Said,

Yeah, JJ is an extremely talented writer, producer, composer and actor, and he’s only in his 30’s. Besides Alias and Lost he also created Felicity. He wrote the screenplay for Armageddon and Mission Impossible III which is due out in 2006. He composed the main theme for Alias.

You can see his filmography here.
