From Arbitron and Edison Media Research comes a recent survey asking Americans why they listen to web radio.
- Listen to audio not available elsewhere - 17%
- To control/choose music played - 15%
- Fewer commercials - 15%
- More music variety - 13%
- Clearer signal - 8%
- Less DJ chatter - 8%
- New music - 7%
All of those benefits are available listening to KZION. The weakest of the seven is the ability to control and choose the music played. I don’t have the technology to give listeners that level of control but the request system does allow some listener choice. Now that I think about it the rating and commenting systems also gives the listener some control over what music they hear.
Later this year listeners will be able to choose different genre specific channels. I’m hoping to also be able to deliver KZION segments via Podcasting. I have to get the legalities worked out first.
